CEGEP description

Brief Description of Our Organization

Vanier College is a public college located in the Borough of Saint Laurent of the City of Montreal. Founded in 1970, the College today counts almost 9,000 day and evening students, and about 600 full- and part-time teachers. We are also accredited as a research institution by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada.

The Regular (Day) division offers a wide range of pre-university and technical programs, leading to a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DCS or DEC). The Continuing Education division offers a range of credit and programs in both day and evening formats, leading to an Attestation of College Studies (ACS or AEC). The College also offers a range of international education activities for both students and staff, mainly destined to enrich the Regular division programs. Vanier also operates a flourishing Second Language training school which teaches many languages including English and French at all levels.

Through its Strategic Partnerships, Personal & Professional Development and Business and Industry Training division, the College works to meet the evolving needs of the business and institutional communities for custom training, applied research and other related services. The division has a mandate to build relationships with key partners and offer a range of non-credit services aimed at developing manpower resources for business and institutional employers. The goal is to develop innovative and flexible training, composed either of existing solutions or custom turn-key courses and programs, thus to deliver the maximum benefits to our communities using our considerable existing expertise and infrastructure. We also act as a prime contractor or bridge between outside organizations looking to purchase services and other sectors of the college who can act as suppliers. This division also offers “à la carte” non-credit courses, leading to professional certifications or simply for personal and professional development of individuals or groups.
